Those holiday invites are bound to start trickling in, as Christmas is really just around the corner!
While we’re all for a festive gathering, we know it can be hard to stay healthy during this time of year with all the delicious food that is hard to turn down, and why should we?!
Of course over-indulging and too much sugar can leave us feeling sluggish and lead to dull skin and even breakouts so in this article we thought we’d share some tips to see you, your stomach, and your skin through the Festive season!
Heading into a party with an empty, growling stomach is never a good idea if you’re trying to maintain a balance between nutrient-rich foods and all those mouth-watering Festive options.
Snacking on a handful of raw nuts, such as almond or Brazil nuts, will help to fill you up and balance your blood sugar, not to mention provide a deep dose of omega 3’s essential for dewy, glowing skin!
You’ll still have room for those delicious treats, but you’re less likely to have more sugar than you’d like.
We know, we know, water is boring at a holiday party, but just hear us out!
If you’re wanting to avoid a hangover, a glass of water alongside each drink is a must! It helps to counteract the dehydrating effects of the alcohol so you feel better the next day and your skin will thank you too!
Water helps to control bloat too, by flushing toxins from the system so it’s super important that you’re drinking enough, at least 8-10 glasses a day. If plain water is boring for you, add a squeeze of lemon, some berries, cucumber, get as creative as you’d like! Also keep in mind that herbal tea counts towards your daily water intake too.
Water helps to flush toxins from the system and control bloat so it;s essential you’re getting your 8-10 glasses a day. Make it a rule to sip on a glass of water alongside every drink to help prevent a hangover!
Healthy digestion is so important for not only glowing skin, but for a tummy that feels comfortable and happy, something we all want!
Starting every day with warm water and freshly squeezed lemon/lime or some fresh ginger can help to gently wake up your digestive system and prepare it for the day ahead.
Warm water or room temperature water is better in general than ice cold water, especially alongside meals.
Also, be sure to chew your food slowly and thoroughly and if dairy and other certain ingredients don’t agree with you try a paleo version instead!
Try this paleo gingerbread recipe, free from dairy, gluten and processed sugars (top tummy upsetting triggers) yet still absolutely delicious, no one will know the difference!
Last, but absolutely not least (we have saved the best for last, of course!) What you do externally matters too!
Oils are your best friend, no matter the season but especially at this drier time of year. While we have a few amazing options for you, we highly recommend our Ora Rose for a touch of decadence before slipping on that holiday outfit. Your skin will glow, your makeup will glide right on and everyone will ask you what your secret is!
We also recommend making our Rose water a staple in your bag, as a spritz at any time can add some hydration and refresh your makeup, as well as soothe your senses thanks to the uplifting scent of aromatic rose.
We hope these tips help you to truly enjoy the Festive season to the fullest!
