How to Figure out Your Skin Type

How to Figure out Your Skin Type

August 11, 2022

Are you using clean, nutrient-rich products on your skin, only to find that they just don’t seem to be working?

Okay, sure, managing your stress levels and what goes into your body is just as important as what you apply externally (good skin is a package deal, after all) but if you’re doing everything right and still having issues then you may simply be using the wrong ingredients for your specific skin type.

Determining your skin type is actually a lot easier than you may realize, and once you’ve figured it out, you can start using ingredients and oils specifically suited so you can enjoy healthy, glowing skin.

Let’s dive in!

Getting started

First things first!

You want to wash your face with a gentle cleanser that won’t strip your skin of healthy, natural oils.

We recommend our Aloe Vera Facial Cleanser.

Wait about 30 minutes, without applying anything to your skin and then use a blotting sheet or tissue to gently blot your face. The amount of oil left on the sheet or tissue will help us to determine your skin type, as well as the following characteristics.

Dry Skin

The quickest giveaway here is that you won’t notice any oil on your blotting sheet or tissue.

As for appearance, your skin may look dull and you may deal with constant flakes and an overall loss of tone and elasticity. You may notice many fine lines and wrinkles that seem to be getting deeper as time goes on, as dry skin that is not properly treated can speed up the signs of aging.

Oily/Combo Skin

Of course oil on your sheet immediately rules out dry skin. If there is oil from your T-zone only (forehead, nose and chin) then you’ll only notice oil when blotting these areas.

If your skin is oily then you will notice oil on your sheet or tissue after blotting every section of your face.

Combo skin tends to break out in the T-zone only, while the cheeks stay dry, whereas oily skin can break out pretty much anywhere due to the excess oil.

Oilier skin types have larger pores and breakouts may be a regular thing for you. The good news is that oily skin does age slower, but of course you want to keep those pesky pimples under control!

Our combination/oily skin bundle is for you!

Normal Skin

Normal skin is something we all long for, as it is neither too oily nor too dry and you may have an even skin tone with a healthy glow.

Of course you don’t want to skimp on your skincare ritual though, it’s important to maintain your healthy and happy skin!
