August 12, 2021

Whether you’ve been a DIY’er for a while now, or are interested in making your own skin care at home for the first time, welcome, you’ve found yourself in the right place!

I know from experience that creating your own facial cleanser from scratch is both a fun and incredibly rewarding process. No more guessing what certain ingredients on labels mean, or wondering whether it’s even safe for your skin! Not to mention the money you’ll save!

But I must warn you though… Once you start to make your own skin care products at home, you may never want to return to the drugstore or virtual shelves again! I don’t want to use the word “addictive,” but when you start to play around with the incredible range of natural ingredients available to you, well, you might just become a little addicted to making your own blends!

Making your own facial cleanser at home is super easy, and I’ve got just the recipe for you that’s perfect for beginners and advanced DIY’ers alike!

But before we get to this jojoba oil cleansing face wash recipe, let’s have a look at the key ingredients we’ll be using and why exactly they’re so great for your skin.

Jojoba Oil

One of the most beloved oils in the natural skincare world, jojoba oil most closely mimics the natural oil your skin produces (sebum), helping to balance oil production. A natural fit in any at home facial cleanser recipe. Jojoba oil is lightweight, but also incredibly nourishing and moisturizing. When applied to the skin, jojoba oil is anti-inflammatory, softening, and protecting (thanks to the antioxidants), and works wonders for all skin types and all sorts of skin ailments!

I know what you’re thinking… there’s nothing this oil can’t do! And you wouldn’t be far off!

Even though we’ll be using jojoba oil as part of our facial cleanser recipe today, you can just as easily use it alone, directly on your skin too.

Rose Water

Beautifully refreshing, naturally uplifting, and oh so nourishing for your skin, there’s so much to love about aromatic rose water!

Just one whiff does your mind good! And your skin? Well, that’s something to gush about… rose water will go to work balancing your skin pH levels which is super important for preventing any recurring blemishes or marks! That’s not the end of the benefits of rose water of course! It will help to refine your pores, hydrate your skin naturally, provide antioxidant protection, smooth your skin's appearance and even reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles

You can certainly use rose water all on it’s own as well, as a skin toner!

Prickly Pear Seed Oil

Perhaps lesser known and used, but incredible for your skin, prickly pear oil is about to be your new favorite oil!

With a natural scent that is just to-die-for, there’s no need for added essential oils in this facial cleanser blend when you use this oil. Filled with hydrating, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties, prickly pear oil is incredibly light and suitable for all skin types. A favorite ingredient in natural anti-aging skincare, this oil works to banish dark blemishes, and under eye-circles.

Use it on it’s own if you’d like!

What you’ll need:

Using a funnel, combine all ingredients in a dark glass, or recyclable bottle. Give it a couple shakes to blend, and then voila! You’ve got your own jojoba oil cleansing face wash!

Take time to enjoy your face wash by rubbing it into wet skin in circular motions, before rinsing off with lukewarm water. Follow up with your favorite toner, serum, and oil.
*Note that if you have very dry or aging skin, you can try substituting Rosehip Oil for the Jojoba as your night cleanser.
