Three 1-ingredient DIY Recipes for Glowing Summer Skin

We adore the sultry heat of summer and nothing feels better than soaking up the golden rays that lift our spirits and leave us looking wonderfully healthy!

Of course too much of anything is never a good thing, and the same goes for those UV rays. If you do spend hours outdoors everyday be sure you are protecting your skin with the right SPF.

Many people think the only way to boast glowing skin is by getting a deep suntan, but this is simply not true!

In today’s post we will share 3 of our favorite summer DIY beauty recipes that will help to not only promote radiant skin, these ingredients are also just what you need to manage any irritation or sensitivity those powerful rays can cause.

Let’s dig in!

Aloe Face Mask

Aloe has been dubbed the miracle plant thanks to its incredible natural healing properties. It is brimming in antioxidants, minerals, nutrients and amino acids that can sort out any skin woe in a jiffy!

All you will need for this mask is fresh aloe, yes really!

You’ll need an aloe leaf and most are easy to come by at your local supermarket. 

How to do it:

You’ll slice your aloe leaf open and use a spoon to scoop out the gel. This gel will be applied to clean skin and left on for as long as you’d like! Rinse with lukewarm water and follow up with one of our beautiful oils to lock in all the goodness.

Pro tip: Add the leftover gel to an ice cube tray and freeze. At night before bed, take out an aloe cube and rub it all over your face to enjoy its soothing, hydrating and cooling effects and leave it on overnight when you want to really treat yourself.

Oatmeal soak

Oats is wonderful for soothing troubled skin while providing a gentle exfoliation that is ideal for even the most sensitive skin types. 

How to do it: 

For this one you are simply going to add 1 cup of dry oatmeal to a muslin or organza bag and drop it into a tub full of warm water where you can soak your cares (and any irritated skin!) away. 

Pro tip: Always make sure your water is not too hot as hot water strips the skin of natural oils and can cause irritation.

Honey hydrator 

We don’t know about you but tiktok can be a little addictive, especially the natural beauty side of tiktok!

We have been seeing tiktoks where people drench their skin in honey once a day and oh boy, the verdict… incredible!

Honey is a natural humectant, drawing water to the skin so your skin stays plump, hydrated and glowing! It’s also excellent for fighting inflammation in the skin (adios blemishes!) and your skin will feel baby soft!

Now, of course we aren’t saying you need to do this every day, but why not make it at least a weekly thing?

How to do it:

You’ll simply need honey (we recommend good-quality, raw honey, not that processed stuff), about a teaspoon should do.

Use your fingers to massage it all over your skin (enjoy the messy, sticky fun that brings out your inner child!) and leave it on for at least 15 minutes before rinsing and following up with your toner, serum and oil.

Pro tip: Do this in the morning before your makeup for skin that glows all day long!
