You've probably been hearing all this buzz about it and you're probably wondering, "What's so great about a collagen boosting serum? And why should I use it??"
And you must also be wondering why it is so important to protect and boost your skin's collagen production.
Well, first of all this protein makes up about 75-80% of your skin's dermis.
Collagen fibers are like a bunch of strong, sturdy columns that are placed very close together, holding up the top layer of your skin.
When you're young and healthy, those pillars are strong, straight, and bountiful so your skin looks smooth.
So, when your skin is young and healthy, it can repair and make new collagen.
The problem is that things like ultraviolet rays, pollution, stress can absolutely wreak havoc on your skin. There's these little things called free radicals that are like tiny arrows poking into your collagen fibers and breaking them down.
Even more bad news is that excessive sun exposure can cause a flimsier and weaker collagen layer.
So, this is why it's so important when it comes to serums to use one that has antioxidants to neutralize free radical damage and to reduce inflammation.
There are some Vitamins (such as Vitamin C) that work double duty by stimulating the collagen while also protecting it. Vitamin C basically "turns on" certain receptors on these fibroblast cells.
Ideally, you want a serum that combines Vitamin C with Vitamin E and ferulic acid (all of which can be found in certain fruit extracts)
The reason for this is that Vitamin E and ferulic acid are two antioxidants that can boost the effects of the Vitamin C.
The good news about my new Collagen Boosting Facial Serum is that it is full of fruit extracts containing lots of these antioxidants. Just a few of my super star ingredients include Pineapple, Papaya, Pomegranate, Orange, Lemon and Apple extracts.
And not only do you get so many benefits for your skin but you will also find that this serum has lovely smell that is so fruity and fresh :)
Mmmm you will almost just want to eat it!
