The perfect base formula for your next DIY facial oil!

Do you love moisturizing with natural oils? Are you interested in learning more about how pure, unrefined oils can help revitalize and nourish your skin? Do you love using carriers to blend your favorite essential oils? If the answer is yes to any of the above, then this post is for you!

All you need to create a simple and effective custom facial oil is:

1) A base oil
2) A "bonus nourishing oil"
3) Your favorite essential oil(s)

THE BASE OIL - I'd recommend Jojoba Oil or Prickly Pear Cactus Seed Oil unless you already a favorite, go-to carrier oil! Argan, Almond or Hemp oil are other good options. I like to use Prickly Pear Oil because it is light weight oil, won't clog pores (when unrefined!) and absorbs easily into my skin. Prickly Pear is also full of nourishing Vitamins E and K that help hydrate and repair skin. This oil also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce redness and help heal damaged skin.

BONUS OIL - I like Rosehip Oil because it has such a high concentration of nutrients, such as Vitamin C that supports collagen production. You can also try Tamanu, Sea Buckthorn or Carrot Seed Oil!

ESSENTIAL OIL - Go wild with this one! I'd suggest using any of your favorite EOs that are nourishing for the skin and fight off bacteria. If you're looking for ideas, a couple of my favorites are Lavender and Tea Tree

1) Fill your 1oz bottle just under 2/3 of the way with your base oil
2) Add your “bonus nourishing” oil until the bottle is almost full
3) Add a few drops of essential oil.
4) Cap and shake well!

Do you have a favorite essential oil that you currently use in your moisturizer? What are the benefits of your favorite EO?

This is an awesome tip! After reading this, I took jojoba and put in peppermint and eucalyptus oil. It smells SO good, awakens my senses and calms me at the same time!!
